Methadone is a synthetic opiod that has action similar to opium but not derived from it. It is very effective in combating pain especially with a longer duration of action. Definition: Propoxyphene is a narcotic analgesic drug that is structurally similar to methadone, but milder additive effects than methadone. It is administered in the form of hydrochloride.
