False positive test is termed when the test provides positive result for another substance instead of suspected drugs. Blood drug test, urine test, hair drug testing are the common test taken for the suspected individual. These samples may provide False positive result because of careless/ error in the drug testing. The probability of false positive test depends up on the excellence of the laboratory testing. Only professionals can handle the drug techniques easily and correctly without error.

The main causative agent for false positive result in drug test is the presence of other medication in the sample. Most of the medications interacts with the drug and produce false positive result. if you intake poppy seeds prior to drug test , the result will show positive for opium drug test. Similarly all other drugs have interaction with other substance producing false positive test.

Pain relievers show false positive result for marijuana drug test. The pain relievers are Advil, nuprin, Motrin and Midol. Substances which produce false positive test for THC are marinol, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, naproxen, promethazine and riboflavin. Substance s that produce positive results for opium drug test are poppy seeds, Tylenol with codeine, other prescribed medication and diabetes and liver disease.

The other causes for false positive test are improper handling in labs, improper sample collection, and other techniques in lab. Most of the chemicals cross react with the drug producing false positive test. False positive may also produced if the urine sample donor is diabetic as their sample contains ketosis substance and glucose. Chemicals used to adulterate the urine and blood sample may also produce false positive result in testing.

Donors trying to cheat drug test, beating urine test will provide false positive test when tested in laboratory. Samples from these donors will be adulterated using available natural adulterants.
