Importance of ovulation in fertilization

Ovulation period is considered as the fertility period in a woman which increases the chances for conception. In this period a mature egg will be released before 14 days before her menstrual period. A woman can likely to become pregnant during this time. Ovulation period will be active and fertile for only 24- 48 hours in the midst of menstrual cycle. Fertilization occurs when an egg and sperm meets and this process takes place in the bottom of the fallopian tube. The sperm penetrates egg during fertilization and now it is called as embryo.
