Detection Times
Detection period of drug in system is becoming an important key that helps someone in passing a drug test. Drug detection tests can sometimes fail to identify metabolites if the time when the sample was collected was much before or after the detection period of the drug. This concept is used by many abusers to pass pre-determined drug tests. The abstinence of using the drugs prior to testing helps one to adjust with being away from providing the sample out of the detection period. It is for this reason that most of the drug detection tests are required to be done in random.
The detection drug time might also vary based on the chronic or rare usage of the drug also. Chronic abusers tend to have high toxic levels of the metabolite even after many days of withdrawal of the drug usage. The body system might not flush overdose of some drugs and might retain some metabolites even beyond the drug detection time. Such presence is indicative of highly addictive behavior of the person. Those that have alarming levels of metabolites should seek medical help for withdrawal rather then trying it all by themselves, and throughout the monitoring period the drug testing should be done to ensure that the metabolite is getting eliminated from the system. Prolonged presence of some metabolites beyond the detection period of drug in system is indicative of some kidney functioning impairment.
The detection time saliva drug test is mainly influenced by the time of collection of the sample in relation to the time of dosing of the drug and the frequency of drug use. The detection period of the parent drug is not the same as the detection period of the metabolites. Some of the metabolites might be found in bound form and some might be found in free form. It should also be noted that most of the metabolites tend to have a smaller half-life than the parent drug. Every drug detection process should be done considering the metabolic process of that particular drug.
In many cases where the parent drug seems to be short-lived, the metabolites might be the only alternative to confirm such abuses. So, in any drug detection studies the levels of the parent drug and the levels of the metabolites should be considered in relative metabolic patterns to each other. The tests should be done with extreme watchfulness of a drug detection dog.
