Federal regulations and alcohol testing
Drug testing and alcohol testing has been become a part of life to have control over the drug abuse. Federal government has implemented strict rules and regulation to prohibit the drug abuse especially for drivers.
Federal regulation will be apt for everyone who own a commercial motor or who drives a commercial motor. Every driver of commercial motor should give their urine sample for drug testing. Use of drug and alcohol during duty is strictly prohibited. Even before 4 hours of driving drivers should not use drug, alcohol, wine, distilled spirits. If any of the drivers is found to used drug and alcohol will be banned for a day from duty.
As per the federal regulations pre employment drug testing is performed. This ensures that transport owner’s hires drug free drivers. This test is strictly followed during hiring for drivers. Drivers are asked to submit the urine samples for test. Urine samples are then taken to laboratory for chemical analysis. Only if the teat result is negative the drivers are appointed for commercial motor driving. They also tested for safety-sensitive function. Use of alcohol even 0.04% or greater by drivers are also prohibited from driving.
Drunkard drive will hastily result in vehicular deaths which is intolerable. Hence to avoid deaths due to accidents random drug testing is carried out. Any commercial vehicle may be stopped for drug testing for the drivers. This random testing has reduced the drug abuse and a vehicular accident in the high way.Drug testing is also carried out in the case of post accidents.
Vehicle breathalyzer, breathalyzer test are conducted randomly in the high way roads and this is inspected by traffic police. Breathalyzer kit, digital breathalyzer is used to test on the spot in the suspected individual drivers in the case of testing for alcohol.
