Ovulation Test -Identifying The Right Time For Ovulation
An egg is usually released from the ovary and it passes into the fallopian tube. This process is called as ovulation. This egg should be fertilized by the sperm within 24 hours after the release of the egg. It the fertilization occurs, pregnancy also occurs.
Before ovulation, the body produces excessive amounts of luteinizing hormone. The process of ovulation and the production of luteinizing hormone occur usually at the middle of the menstrual cycle and it is called as LT test to identify the LH surge. This is a favorable time for pregnancy. As there is excessive production of LH before ovulation, the discharge of these hormones in the urine suggests that ovulation may occur within next 24 to 36 hours.
Hence, ovulation test with ovulation test kit is done to detect the levels of LH in urine. This test can be taken in the middle of the menstrual cycle but it depends upon the length of the cycle. Length of the cycle is usually 28 days. The seventh day from the day of the last period will be a fine day for the ovulation test. For some, the menstrual cycle length would be 22 days.
Here, the sixth day from the day of last period would be the day to test for ovulation using ovulation predictor kit. An ovulation testing strip is available in drug store which can be used to test the ovulation at home itself. Three full drops of urine should be placed on the device using a dropper in the ovulation predictor. Air bubbles should be avoided. Results can be observed within five minutes. Appearance of two lines of same width and color indicates the positive result for ovulation testing. The first line is considered as test line and the second line is considered as reference line.
