Reasons for False negatives in Drug Testing?
The amount of drug abused by a person can be predicted by drug testing. Drug testing enables t detects the level of drug even after 90 days of drug addiction. Drug testing relies up on the kind of sample collected. The samples used for drug testing are urine, blood, hair and saliva. The samples are collected from suspected individuals and are sent to lab for chemical analyses. Some times false negative results are reported. Hair sample drug test, urine drug screen test, saliva drug testing, blood drug screen are the test which utilizes the hair, urine, saliva and blood sample. Samples are collected before the test and are stored in appropriate container in the lab.
The reason for false negative result is due to adulteration of the urine sample. Samples given for drug testing are adulterated just to cheat the testing. Adulteration can be done at the time of sample collection. Adulteration of urine sample is mainly carried out by the donors is the best way to pass the drug test. It can be adulterated by adding chemical substance which masks the presence of drug in the sample. The other way is to replace the sample by other sample collected from non user donor. This will surely produce false negative test. Too much of water is added to dilute the substance containing sample so that specific gravity becomes too low producing false result. Apart from the low specific gravity the sample appear to be very clear so that it is rejected for drug testing. The chemical which supports the false negative result in drug test results are sodium chloride, nitrites, and vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, bleach and lemon juices. They alter the pH and specific gravity of the sample. Ingestion of substance like cleansers prior to test also produces false result.
