Test Directions for the one step Specimen Validity Tests

Specimen validity test

Allow Test Card & Urine Specimen to reach room temperature (15-300C) prior to testing.

  1. When ready to perform the test, remove the test from the pouch or container.  Dip test strip into the urine specimen & remove immediately.
  1. Gently blot the test gently on its side to remove excess urine.  Note:  It is important to blot the test strip for consistent results.
  1. Read results in one (1) minute by comparing each pad with the color chart supplied.  Do not interpret results after 4 minutes.

Color Chart

HOW TO READ RESULTS:

POSITIVE RESULT: One red line appears in the Control (C) region. No line appears in the Test (T) region.

NEGATIVE RESULT: Two red lines appear. One red line should be in the Control (C) region & another red or pink line should be in the Test (T) region. The shade of the red line in the Test region will vary but it should be considered negative whenever there is even a faint pink line.

INVALID RESULT: Control (C) line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or Incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for the Control line failure.

LIMITATIONS:

  1. The One Step test Strip provides only a qualitative, preliminary analytical result.  A secondary analytical method must be used to obtain a confirmed result.  Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) are the preferred confirmatory methods.
  2. It is possible that technical or procedural errors, as well as other interfering substances in the urine specimen may cause erroneous results.
  3. Adulterants, such as bleach and/or alum, in urine specimens may produce erroneous results regardless of the analytical method used.  If adulteration is suspected, the test should be repeated with another urine specimen.
  4. Certain medications/pharmaceuticals/compounds may produce a Positive Result.
  5. A Positive Result indicates presence of the drug or its metabolites but does not indicate level of intoxication, route of administration or concentration in urine.
